The WFCA's mission is "to instill and develop in students communication skills vital for a lifetime of effective participation in a democratic society." To that end, the WFCA promotes the interests of Wisconsin interscholastic forensics by assisting in the regulation and improvement of forensic practices and by serving as a forum for the airing of opinions concerning forensic activities. Member schools receive notices of invitational tournaments through an official mailing list. The season culminates with the State Tournament, open to every member school. Read more ...

MAY 1 UPDATE FROM BEN KROLL, WFCA PRESIDENT-ELECT:

Hello coaches,

We look forward to seeing you at our WFCA spring meeting here in Sheboygan this weekend. Here are a few specifics for you as you get ready.

Friday evening – We'd love to have you join us for some food and drink at our social gathering with the exec board. We'll start after the exec board meeting finishes, approximately 7:00 to 7:30. It'll be at the Blue Harbor Resort. We'll send out the specific room later this week.

Saturday morning – All of our committees will hold meetings at 9:00, and anyone is able to sit in to provide feedback. If you're interested in joining a committee (Category, Tournament Practices and Procedures, Communications, Program Assistance), this is an excellent opportunity to find out what it will be like.

Saturday morning, continued – At 10:15, we're holding a few informal roundtables:

Jon Balcerak will lead a discussion on how involved coaches should be with putting together the speeches and pieces of their students.

Malyssa Gabrielson will host a talk about creative use of the binders and other creative ideas with blocking.

Joe Meinecke will discuss the logistics of participating in both the WFCA and WHSFA organizations.

Elliot Fisher will talk through proposals he has submitted regarding potential changes to how we run the state tournament.

Saturday Lunch – At lunch, we will be awarding milestone pins to our coaches based on the number of years they have been coaching. We have reserved space at the Sprecher restaurant in Sheboygan for lunch, and they will be offering a buffet lunch for us for $15.00. Coaches may still choose to eat elsewhere, but we sincerely hope you'll join us to help celebrate out fellow coaches' achievements.

***** The restaurant has asked if we can provide an approximate number of people who will be there for lunch before this weekend. If you will be joining us for our lunch, please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to let me know how many people from your school will join us for lunch at the Sprecher restaurant. *****

Saturday afternoon – Our general membership meeting will convene at 1:00. There are quite a few items up for discussion and/or voting at the meeting. Please have a look at the WFCA website to preview what will be discussed.

(And I also encourage those of you who don't already listen to the Forensics Faces podcast to listen to the latest episode (http://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-xy3m2-6a4c7c) in which Kirt and Malyssa sit down with Elliot Fischer to talk through many of the proposals we'll discuss this weekend).

If you will not be in attendance this weekend, but will be sending another representative in your place, please forward this message to them so they'll know in advance what to expect.

And please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you'll be joining us for our lunch.
